OZORO - The leadership of Isoko Development Union, IDU, yesterday held a crucial meeting with prominent Ozoro citizens to chart a way for the upliftment of Delta State Polytechnic, Ozoro. The meeting which took place at the Palace of the Ovie of Ozoro Kingdom, Barr. Anthony Ogbogbo (Ibuka 1) was at the instance of the President General of IDU High Chief Iduh Amadhe.
Chief Amadhe told the gathering that accreditation of courses in the institution is key to the overall interest of students and lecturers alike, adding that it will compliment the physical and educational infrastructure that exist in the campus. While stressing the importance of accreditation and the complex steps to achieving it, Iduh call on illustrious sons and daughters of Ozoro and indeed Isoko nation to aid the process by contributing their 'widow's mite'. He recommended the method through which accreditation was secured for faculties at Oleh Campus of Delta State University, DELSU, saying that it will work in Ozoro too. He urged prominent Ozoro citizens to assist in the quest to improve the academic environment of the institution. "Accreditation is a major issue that could threaten the standard Ozoro Poly has attained. The standard should not be allowed to decline, rather it should be improved upon", Iduh emphasized.

The Chairman of Isoko North Local Government Area Hon. Emmanuel Egbabor in his contribution calls for full co-operation of Ozoro people in what he described as "major assignment to secure accreditation for courses in the institution". Egbabor said that the polytechnic has provided economic benefits to the people in terms of employment and market opportunities. He advised that nobody should feel unconcerned or miscontrue the process as political or simply government responsibility. "It is Ozoro thing, it is Isoko thing and no amount is too small to contribute towards provision of materials that will facilitate the accreditation process".
The President General of Ozoro Kingdom Hon. Nicholas Areh opined that a broader gathering be considered to help in the sensitization drive. He thanked Chief Iduh for the move.
The representative of the Rector of the polytechnic Dr. J. K. J. Kperegbeyi expressed appreciation to the leadership of IDU and Ozoro leaders for convening such important meeting. He appealed that Isoko people should join hand with the institution to facilitate the much desired accreditation .
Chief Iduh stated again that the accreditation could be spread over a period of time depending on availability of resources, but it must attract the priority it deserves. He announced a donation of N10million by the MD of Damotech. He also contributed N500,000 towards the accreditation cause.
