The Community Development Board (CDB) of OML 26 Asset Management Team (AMT) yesterday at Ozoro, Isoko North Local Government Area, Delta State gave out empowerment equipment to beneficiaries from four clusters of the oilfield.
In his speech, Manager Community Affairs, AMT Mr. Blessyn Okpowo who spoke on behalf of the Chief Operating Officer of OML 26 AMT Engr. Ebenezer Age said that the programme was embarked upon to reduce rural/urban drift of youths and job seekers by providing these opportunities for self employment at the community level.
According to Okpowo, it also to serve as a forum for advocacy, civil education and convenant among the youths as a means of curbing restiveness and violence.
The programme is also to provide a pool of labour to promote self-reliance among our youths by imparting entrepreneural training.

Okpowo stated that in addition to capacity building and various empowerment programmes in the communities, contracts are awarded to qualified contractors.
He assured that more will be done by AMT by giving priority to indigenous contractors.
Okpowo further assured that by this time next year, the four communities in cluster one (1) - Ozoro, Ellu, Ovrode and Ofagbe will have 24 hours electricity.
He said, "By the grace of God, the four communities in cluster 1, before we extend to other ones, by this time next year, mark my words, Ozoro, Ellu, Ovrode and Ofagbe will have 24 hours electricity ".
Okpowo encourage the beneficiaries to put their empowerment equipment to judicious use.
He assured that more will be done by AMT by giving priority to indigenous contractors.

Egbabor said that the CDB that was set up about two years ago has changed the face of things in the area.

Hon. Egbabor disclosed that protection of life and property is paramount to those of us in government, adding that Isoko North is the most peaceful local government in the state. According to him, "we try as much as possible to get involved into issues that would have degenerated into crisis to ensure that we resolve them".
Egbabor expressed appreciation to families and communities that have been promoting peace in the local government. He said without peace there cannot be development.
